Kandurata Maroons huff and puff to 154 runs
The Kandurata Maroons just about managed to go past the
150-run mark and scored 154 runs in their allotted 20 overs for the loss of 9
wickets.
After a great start given by Upul Tharanga, none of the other
batsmen could capitalize.
He scored 76 runs off 56 balls with the help of 6 fours and
three sixes.
However, after that no other batsman could contribute
meaningfully.
The next highest score after those 76 runs was 15 runs by Dilhara
Lokuhettige.
Shehan Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara scored 13 runs each
and looked set for a big score.
But wickets kept tumbling one after the other and the scoring
rate also took a beating.
Had they not lost those many wickets, they could have
certainly scored 10 to 15 more runs.
This could have made the match more competitive.
Ryan ten Doeschate showed that he too can bowl and
contributed with the wickets as well.
